Viscometer Baths & Accessories

Precision temperature control is the key to a successful viscosity determination. The PSL-Rheotek EVS Constant Temperature Bath, boasts a certified temperature stability of plus or minus 0.005 degrees Celsius.
All the PSL Rheotek bath models comply with test method specifications of plus or minus 0.02 degrees Celsius as detailed in ASTM D445, ISO 3104, DIN 51562-1 and other protocols.
PSL-Rheotek Viscometer holders ensure, that the capillary section of the glass viscometer is always held correctly in the vertical position. Designed with a spring loaded clip at the bottom, they are practical in everyday use. Inserting and removing the viscometer is very easy. Simply slide the top of the viscometer through the holes in the disc at the top and secure the bottom bend in the spring loaded clip.
The holder and viscometer is then ready to immerse in the bath. Provided that the bath has been levelled, the top disc of the holder will keep the viscometer vertical.

Constant Temperature Viscometer Baths

TCB-7 Viscometer Bath | PSL Rheotek
A constant temperature viscometer bath is essential for accurate viscosity measurements in various applications. Viscosity is highly dependent on temperature. Small variations in temperature can lead to significant changes in viscosity readings.

Stability

A constant temperature viscometer bath ensures that the sample being measured remains at a stable temperature throughout the testing process. This stability is crucial for obtaining reliable and repeatable viscosity measurements.

Consistency of results

Maintaining a constant temperature minimizes fluctuations in viscosity readings caused by changes in temperature. Consistent testing conditions allow for meaningful comparisons between different samples or measurements taken at different times. Accurate viscosity measurements are essential in many industries, such as manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food processing. A constant temperature viscometer bath helps ensure that the measured viscosity values reflect the true viscosity of the sample, without being influenced by temperature variations.

Standardisation

In scientific research and industrial settings, standardisation of testing conditions is important for ensuring consistency and reproducibility of results. A constant temperature viscometer bath provides a standardized environment for viscosity measurements, allowing for reliable comparisons between different experiments or laboratories.

How do I know, the temperature is correct?

The use of a calibrated reference thermometer is essential for validating the bath temperature. When choosing the thermometer, it is important to pay attention to the immersion depth.

How often should the bath temperature be validated?

The general recommendation is to validate the bath temperature at least once every 12 months as part of the standard Quality Assurance routine of the laboratory. Some laboratories may have shorter validation intervals.

What are the installation requriements?

The bath must be installed in a laboratory environment with a stable ambient temperature in the interval 18 to 23 degrees C.

What bath medium do you recommend?

At measurement temperatures between 20 and 50 degrees C, our recommendation is to use demineralised water. At temperatures of 60 degrees C and above, we recommend to use silicone oil or a light mineral oil.
